A piece of British machine tooling history! This pillar drill produced by Alfred Herbert, Coventry is a sample of the many pieces of machinery produced by Herbert’s that were the backbone of production in machine shops and industrial workshops globally.
This particular item is a fairly small in the scale of the range of drills and machines produced by Herbert’s and could be easily mounted on a sturdy workshop bench. I would estimate its weight at approx 15 to 20kg.
The previous owner has carried out a restoration and finished the drill with black and gold paint, this may or may not be to original specification but it certainly looks the part.
As with all electrical items we would recommend the drill is checked by a professional electrician prior to use, we can complete a PAT test if requested, otherwise this is sold to be re-instated to working condition.
We have not been able to identify the specific model and there is no sign of a motor speed plate.
A wonderful item for the collector and it would be great to see it back in use.
Please contact us prior to purchase for UK or international shipping costs. Collection from our workshop in Staffordshire is welcome.
