A bit about us...
Based in Newcastle Under Lyme, Staffordshire, Magpie Vintage Tools was founded in 2020 through a passion for old, vintage & antique tools, we really do love rusty old things!!
The current buzzword ‘patina’ barely scratches the surface of the story of a vintage tool. Who did it belong to? What projects has it been used on? Where did it come from? Each and everyone is unique in its own way and is a delight to discover, rescue and making available to those who appreciate these items for what they are.
Where do our items come from? Well, that sad truth is that most items come from probate or estate clearance following a bereavement where the family simply don’t know what to do with the items. As part of our sympathetic work we provide valuations, clearance and in the most part, purchase items that are worth saving, giving them a new lease of life rather than loosing them to scrap.
Restore, or preserve?
We don’t fully restore any of our items. We clean and then protect their current condition with a high quality beeswax. If you wish to restore a tool back to its ‘as new condition’ that entirely up to you. If you want a tool that tells you it’s history, is tactile and holds its patina, we have plentiful items.
So, that’s a bit about us, why not get in touch? We love to hear about your industry experience, your tool collections & yours ‘wants’.
